UFC legend Francis Ngannou is set to face Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia this weekend in what is expected to be a box-office blow-out. Play by Play Broadcaster and podcast host of The Sports Scene, Jesse Ough shares his thoughts:
The countdown to Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury’s bout is almost over. On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the WBC heavyweight champion and lineal UFC heavyweight champion will face off in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Both fighters are already earning support from some big names in the sports world. Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has made it clear who he has for this fight, after gifting Ngannou a timepiece worth well over $90K USD (87K EUR). Ngannou showed off his new luxury watch in a video posted on his Instagram account. Ronaldo himself has expressed direct support for the fighter. A vocal supporter of combat sports and a fan of the electricity seen in the ring and around the octagon, the soccer superstar has even gone so far as to say he prefers watching boxing and UFC over his own sport.
Other fights set for the boxing card include Fabio Wardley vs. David Adeleye, Joseph Parker vs. Simon Kean, Carlos Takam vs. Martin Bakole, Arslanbek Makhumodov vs. Anthony Wright, Moses Itauma vs. Istvan Bernath and Jack McGann vs. Alcibiade Duran. PxP Broadcaster Jesse Ough expects Tyson Fury to win, based on his boxing cred alone. Francis Ngannou on the other hand, will be making his boxing debut. Breaking away from his traditional fight style, Ough anticipates that this will be a loss for Nagganou.
