It’s no secret that the NFL has become known as the ‘No Fun League’ over the years. Taunting another player will set you back… about 15-yards, to be exact. Jesse Ough shares what Bengals QB Joe Burrow thinks of it all:
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow says: “I’m pro-taunting.” The star QB went on to explain that NFL players work hard at what they do. If someone wants to celebrate a good play in the moment by taunting another player… why not? That’s how Burrow feels, anyway. Unfortunately, that’s not how the NFL feels at all. Taunting another player can land you with a 15-yard penalty. And as far as Play by Play PxP Broadcaster Jesse Ough has observed, the league isn’t bluffing either In 2021, there were a total of 43 taunting penalties dished out to players in the league. The Seasons of 2022 and 2023 saw 19 and 15 taunting penalties to follow. But is this really something that we should continue to do in the NFL? The penalty is a set back that could make or break a game… After a taunting penalty dished out to Zay Flowers, the Baltimore Ravens just about lost their grip on a faceoff against the Kansas City Chiefs. Not only did the Chiefs win the game, but they went on to win the Super Bowl.
